A Culture Hotel with Its Own Yokocho

Best Rate Guarantee

A hotel where the history of Miyako Island comes to life.

Hirara, where our hotel is located, has long been the heart of Miyako Island and a place where the island’s history and culture have flourished.

Blessed with a natural harbor and abundant groundwater, this area has long been a gathering place where people lived and traded. Around the hotel, you can still find historic and sacred sites that tell the story of Miyako Island, including Harimizu Utaki, one of the island’s most important sacred sites, as well as Miyako Shrine and Shounji Temple.

It is said that the sea once extended as far as the area around the hotel, with a harbor located just below Harimizu Utaki. Before setting out on a journey, islanders would come here to pray for a safe voyage, returning after their safe arrival home to give thanks.

A place shaped by the sea, where people have gathered, traveled, and prayed for generations.
This land laid the foundation for Miyako Island’s growth and remains a special place where the island’s history and memories live on.

Set in this historic area, our hotel is not only an ideal base for exploring Miyako Island, but also a place where you can experience the island’s rich history and culture up close.

During your stay, we invite you to take a leisurely stroll around the hotel and explore the neighborhood.
Visit Harimizu Utaki and Miyako Shrine, and imagine the sea that once stretched across this land and the people who set out on their journeys from here.

Discover the story of Miyako Island’s beginnings and enjoy a truly special experience.

~ What is an Utaki? ~

An Utaki is a sacred place where deities are believed to descend. Even today in Miyako Island and throughout Okinawa, spiritual practitioners known as Yuta and Kaminchu perform sacred rituals at these sites and serve as intermediaries between people and the divine.
Utaki are sacred places where people pray for abundant harvests, plentiful catches, and the prosperity of future generations, while also giving thanks for nature’s blessings.

HOTEL ART AVENUE is designed around the concept of “Miyako Island–inspired Japanese modern style,” creating a space that is simple yet warm and inviting. Guest rooms feature a raised tatami area with mattresses, complemented by cedar-patterned flooring and natural wood furniture for a harmonious, relaxing atmosphere. High ceilings in both the guest rooms and hallways create an open, spacious feel, allowing you to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing stay.

To make our rooms comfortable for both leisure and business travelers, each room features a spacious 2.4-meter-wide desk and a total of 14 power outlets. Every room also has its own washer-dryer, making it easy to wash clothes after a warm day exploring Miyako Island. For added comfort and convenience, the bathroom, toilet, and washbasin are all separate, with the washbasin located outside the bathroom.

Fully Renovated Throughout

Hotel Art Avenue was created by Art Avenue Co., Ltd. through a complete renovation of the former Hotel Kyowa. Conveniently located and long loved by both leisure and business travelers, Hotel Kyowa has now been given a new life as Hotel Art Avenue.
We invite you to experience the newly transformed Hotel Art Avenue.

About Our Outside-Basin Design

We believe that the layout of the bathroom, toilet, and washbasin plays an important role in creating a comfortable hotel stay. For greater comfort, convenience, and hygiene, each area is designed as a separate space. The toilet is located beyond the washroom, with two doors separating it from the bedroom. This helps reduce noise and provides greater privacy when sharing a room with family, friends, or a partner. The washbasin area is also spacious, providing plenty of room for toiletries, cosmetics, and other personal items.

Washer-Dryer in Every Room

Miyako Island’s warm climate means you may work up a sweat while exploring. Rather than packing damp clothes in your suitcase, you can wash and dry them right in your room during your stay. Laundry detergent is also provided in every room for your convenience.

Perfect for Business Travelers — 14 Power Outlets

For the convenience of business travelers, each room is equipped with multiple power outlets: six by the bedside, six at the desk (including two USB ports), and three on the wall beside the desk.

There are also two additional power outlets by the washbasin, for a total of 14 outlets in the room. The spacious 2.4-meter-wide desk provides plenty of room to work comfortably during your stay.
